![]() The tricky part is ending up in orbit near the station. This also means that once you’re within the two towers of the station you can leave your ship, and will have a lot less trouble making it inside the station. Makes some logical sense since the station stays in perfect orbit by itself, but anyways worth mentioning. But above the station there will be basically no gravitational pull, and below it the pull will be strong. Once you’re at that height from the sun, you will have little trouble staying there. One might think that it would be strong, but it basically only affects you from around the point the sun station is at. Good guide, but I think it’s worth mentioning that the entire point of this is to end up in the sun’s field of orbit. The achievement will unlock once you set foot inside.įunny, I actually tried this stunt just for the fun of it, decided it was too hard to make it into the game, abandoned it, and then found out there’s an achievement for it. Once you've exited the ship, spot the Station doorway and fly yourself into it. You need to do this quickly because it is unlikely that your ship will stay in perfect orbit by itself, and you risk getting stuck in your ship, or flung too far from the Station.Ĩ. When you feel confident the movement is matched, unbuckle and open the hatch. You can take your time at this point, since you should remain in reasonably close orbit with the Station.ħ. The autopilot 'match velocity' does not really work for this, so it's better to do it manually. You need to match the speed and orbit of the Station as close as you can. Once you're close to the Station you want to position the ship just above the doorway on the left. You'll need to reverse thrust a bit to slow down, and then continue the down thrust to bring you into low orbit with the Station.Ħ. Your forward velocity will be slightly fast so that you can catch up to the Station and this should also take you higher off the surface, but you can also up thrust a bit if you need to. When you start getting close, release the down thrust momentarily, to avoid crashing into the Sun. Once the Station and you are passing over the top point of the Sun you can then begin your descent into orbit.ĥ. Now wait 1-2 seconds, you should spot the Sun Station coming into view below you. When you release thrust, you may notice your approach velocity will decrease - that is ok, you don't need to maintain it.Ĥ. You should now be aiming towards the top quarter of the Sun and you accelerate until your approach velocity reaches about 400-450 m/s, then release thrust. You also need to maintain full forward thrust while you do this.ģ. You want Dark Bramble planet in the top centre of your view, and the lateral movement vector of the Sun visible on the left of screen and fairly steady. After the Sun Station is in full view rounding the horizon of the Sun, you want to roll to the right ( (hold) + ). Once you spot the Sun, lock onto it, aim for the centre and continue full thrust straight towards it.Ģ. You want to stay fast and low otherwise you risk the Moon interfering with your flight path. Head up to your ship, suit up, buckle in and take off towards the Sun. Here is a video of my approach to the Sun Station and matching speed with the doorway: Įxtra thanks again to fallouthirteen for the awesome videos found in the comments to this solution (they were wiped, see above edit), definitely give them a look if you're struggling!ġ. Once you think you've got everything lined up nicely and you're moving at the same pace, go ahead and unbuckle and try to open the hatch, if you pop out and can manage to jetpack your way to the door way, the achievement will be yours! Once you're lined up and are able to maneuver your ship right near the Sun Station, you should look into the open doorway and click the Left Stick so you can Match Velocity with that entryway. Get yourself into a nice orbit at around 2700m like suggested below and make sure your horizontal movement is pretty significant but your up and down movement is minimal.Īs the Sun Station approaches you, start to match speed with it, if you're in a good orbit you should only have to mainly worry about speed matching the station, and very mildly keeping yourself from getting sucked into the sun. As you approach the Sun, you're going to want to have the Sun Station orbiting HORIZONTALLY (I did mine with it orbiting clockwise or left around the Sun). It's actually pretty easy once you know how to.Very helpful! (The videos are also especially helpful) But here is my advice. ![]() Just orbit in front of it and make sure the floor of the ship is pointed at the station so that you don't get flung to the side of the ship. ![]() You just have to board it not really "land" on it.
